Care insurance subsidises stairlifts: How to apply for the subsidy

Stairlifts are a valuable aid for people with limited mobility. They enable people to live independently within their own four walls and carry out their usual activities.

The good news: The care insurance fund subsidises the purchase of a stairlift with up to 4,000 euros. Find out how to apply for the subsidy here.

Requirements for the subsidy

You must fulfil the following requirements in order to receive the subsidy from the long-term care insurance fund:

* You have at least care level 1.
* You are the owner or tenant of the flat in which the stairlift is to be installed.
The stairlift is suitable for your individual situation.

Application procedure

You can apply for the subsidy from your care insurance fund. You can find the form on the care insurance website or request it from your care insurance fund.

The application must contain the following information

* Your personal data
* Your care level
* Type and scope of the measure to improve the living environment
* Cost estimate for the measure

Amount of the subsidy

The long-term care insurance fund grants a subsidy of up to 4,000 euros per applicant with a care level. This means that if you and your partner both have a care level, you will receive 8,000 euros from the care insurance fund. The maximum amount is 16,000 euros (for four applicants).

Own contribution

You must pay the personal contribution yourself. It amounts to at least 10 per cent of the cost of the stairlift. However, it may not be more than half of your gross monthly income.

The care insurance subsidy is a valuable support for people with limited mobility. It can help to reduce the cost of purchasing a stairlift and make the home barrier-free.
