Warranty and guarantee
What is the difference between a warranty and a guarantee?
And what do you as the end customer need to pay attention to?
The warranty is regulated by law and is 2 years from the date of delivery of the new goods.
The warranty applies in the event of defective performance. A defect exists, for example, if the product does not have the agreed quality or is not suitable for normal use.
Your contact person is always the dealer or the manufacturer
The warranty cannot be shortened or excluded by either the retailer or the manufacturer of the product. The guarantee, on the other hand, is only partially regulated by law. It exists in addition to the statutory warranty rights. The warranty conditions (service, scope, duration) are usually determined by the provider.
Sonilift tip:
The guarantee must contain a statement that the statutory rights are not restricted by this.
Be particularly careful here, as the contents of guarantees can be very varied and opaque. In any case, it makes sense to take a very close look at these conditions in advance and scrutinise them particularly critically!
Warranties are often limited and only cover certain parts or features of a product. Only the spare parts themselves are covered, but not other costs. Parts that are subject to wear and tear are even excluded! A guarantee often also requires careful handling, proper use or regular maintenance.
The following is very important for you personally as a customer:
The length of the warranty depends on the following criteria:
- As the buyer, you can assert claims against the dealer or seller for two years from the handover of the goods.
- In the case of used goods, a reduction of up to one year is possible.
- In addition, the burden of proof is reduced in the first six months.
Within the first six months from handover, the burden of proof is eased. It is then assumed that the defect was already present from the outset. Therefore, in the event of a complaint within the first six months, only the defect itself needs to be proven.
As you can see, there is a lot to consider and, above all, to scrutinise! At Sonilift, we want to help you make the right choice for your new stairlift.
